“Land of Illusion” in Second Life is an open space designed for artist collaboration and creativity. The founders, Lily & Honglei, invite artist, scholar, educator to present artworks, individually or institutionally, deliver lecture or set up discussion forum, especially those regarding “freethinking” tradition, folklore tradition and Chinese society & history, in “Land of Illusion.” If you are a Second Life user already, visit the space now. 网络艺术宣言
此宣言的产生及发展均基于如下观念: 从艺术家的角度, 我们基本确信, 美术史中的任何宣言, 除却作为第一步与观众群的沟通, 并无本质意义. 艺术的革命性只能通过独立艺术作品来体现.
- 我们选择网络作为艺术媒介, 是由于当前物理媒介 – 包括空间以及材料, 已走向衰老腐败;
- 艺术家移居到赛博空间可以被视作一个不可避免的数字时代的文化结果;
- 网络作为艺术媒介的生命力, 是基于它固有的非中心化与开放性，或作为启蒙精神的有效延伸；
- 我们认为自身是广义上的艺术家而非“网络艺术家”. 我们的兴趣在于文化反思以及审美，除非网络技术可以辅助达成创作目的，我们对之并无特殊兴趣；
- 网络的数码平台极大地解放了个体创造力，因为它是一个不易受到既有权力机构及艺术批评筛选或控制的发表通道，尽管某些实例刚好相反；
- 在网络空间中，电讯沟通或“虚拟在场”技术实现了不同文化群体或个体的越洋实时互动，从而将全球化的文化交流提高到新的层次；
- 我们倾向于赛博空间, 尤其是因为孩子们在这里被更有趣的游戏及社区吸引而流连忘返。赛博空间中的艺术创作使我们和下一代再度接洽；
- 网络空间最大限度地摆脱了场地或材料的局限，允许随时面向全球观众展示作品，因而使富有创造力的艺术家得以曝光；那些为展览而创作的艺术家该退休了。
